Garnetbank Garden Club

Welcome to our blog. We are a gardening club in a Primary school in Scotland.
We are taking part in gardening competition at Gardening Scotland 2010.
We have to design a pallet and have also decided to design two planters.
Read about all our preparations for the competition and how we get on in June.

Thank you to Ross and Liddell

We are very excited at the Garden Club because we have just heard that we are going to be sponsored by Ross and Liddell to go to Gardening Scotland 2010.  The money that they give us will help to pay for a coach to take us to the competition on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday which will be a great help to us.  We weren't sure whether we would be able to get all our plants and pots on the bus to Edinburgh!  So thank you very much to Ross and Liddell.

Pot plant competition, Thursday groups plan.

I am Matthias,  a member of the Garnetbank Garden Club.  My plant pot design for the Thursday groups entry for Gardening Scotland 2010 was inspired by the movie "Little shop of horrors" with flytraps everywhere.  It is a living hell for all the flies that face its formidible mouths.  These plants grow in swamps and attract flies by producing a sweet smell.  I am going to make a model of Audrey from the film and we may grow some bright red plants as well as carniverous ones.

We have had an idea for our planter competition, we are going to put Tam, our garden gnome, in the middle and split the rest up into four different sections; purple, orange/yellow, red/pink and green. We have assigned everyone in the garden club a few plants and we are just starting to grow them now.
